"'Unknwoman'is a study of how "pop"
songs from seemingly opposite genres can have the same structure
and melodies.
As an IDM dj, I took the IDM pop hits of 2001 to mix with obvious
mainstream pop hits.
By overlapping these tracks, like a double exposure in film, we
can hear how these songs relate to eachother. Dialogues in lyrics
between the songs erupt; melodies blend and clash. I tried to ride
out and enjoy the disonent mixes- letting the similarity in strucuture
be the glue to holds them together.
I am fascinated by songs that have obvious dialogue in two or more
areas:
melody, lyrics, and rhythm."
